Club News:

The next monthly Miles Greenwood meeting will be held Tuesday, April 15th, at 7:30pm. We will meet at the Wyoming Ohio Fire Station, 600 Grove Avenue near Wyoming Avenue (behind Encore Bistro and Bar, formerly Sturkey’s Restaurant). Parking is across the street in the public arts lot. Use the front public entrance to the Safety Service Building.

The annual flea market and Howard Kuhnell’s auction were a great success! Thanks to everyone who gave their time and energy to make it happen. Special thanks to all the vendors who donated items for door-prizes and Dorothy Placke and Margaret Trushell for operating the food service. We couldn’t have done it without you!

At our February meeting, the membership agreed to sponsor a Miles Greenwood Society Muster & Apparatus Show at Perfect North Ski Slopes in Dearborn County, Indiana on Sunday, June 22, 2008. The Muster & Apparatus Show will be just one part of a larger Fire & Life Safety Community Celebration including the Child Wellness Kids Fire & Life Safety Camp, The Hoxworth Blood Center Firefighter Competition, The Miller-York VFD Car & Hot Rod Show, The Miller-York VFD Famous Pepper Fried Chicken Dinner, and the Child Wellness Fair. Anyone with questions can contact Jamey Ponte.

President Jeff Placke reminded the membership that all club officers should be current members of SPAAMFAA.

This past November, the club voted to create a new “family membership” option. Now you, your spouse, and your children under age 18 can share a membership to The Miles Greenwood Society for just $15.

14” flat front pole mounted spotlight for a 1936 Ford pumper. Contact Dick Koeniger at dkoeniger@seidata.com.

Cincinnati received three Ahrens-Fox 750-gpm pumpers in 1938. The trio had the unique distinction of being equipped with Seagrave pumps, the only A-F rigs to do so. They were assigned to Engines 37, 49, and 38. Serial #9056 (Engine 37 - Engine 7) is now owned by Steve Dalpe of Houston, Texas who is restoring the rig. If you have any photos of these or other Cincinnati apparatus, please let me know. I may be interested in acquiring a digital copy of your picture. Contact: Steve Hagy at stemel@fuse.net.

My husband is restoring a 1929 (rebuilt in 1935) Stutz fire engine that was used in Arnold, Pennsylvania. I would like the patches, badges or whatever decorations would be seen on a uniform for a chief in that town of that era. Any information you can provide will be appreciated. Thanks. Judy Buntin NITNUB007@aol.com.
