Club News:
The next monthly Miles Greenwood meeting will be held Tuesday, March 18th, at 7:30pm. We will meet at the Wyoming Ohio Fire Station, 600 Grove Avenue near Wyoming Avenue (behind Encore Bistro and Bar, formerly Sturkey’s Restaurant). Parking is across the street in the public arts lot. Use the front public entrance to the Safety Service Building.
Our annual flea market and Howard Kuhnell’s auction is Friday March 14th & 15th! This is your opportunity to help showcase your Miles Greenwod Society and attract new members. We need everyone to spread the word and attend all the events.
The flea market will be open from 1-6pm on Friday March 14th. A preview of Howard Kuhnell’s auction of fire memorabilia is at 6pm, with the auction at 7pm. On Saturday, March 15th, the flea market doors are open 8am-1pm. Bring the whole family! Don’t miss the fun and excitement! Visit http://milesgreenwood.org/
for more information.
If you have firefighting related items that you would like to consign, contact Howard at howdy@fuse.netw. Tables for the flea market are still available. Contact Mark Hetzel at Patchguru213@fuse.neth. to reserve your spot.
At our February meeting, the membership agreed to sponsor a Miles Greenwood Society Muster & Apparatus Show at Perfect North Ski Slopes in Dearborn County, Indiana on Sunday, June 22, 2008. The Muster & Apparatus Show will be just one part of a larger Fire & Life Safety Community Celebration including the Child Wellness Kids Fire & Life Safety Camp, The Hoxworth Blood Center Firefighter Competition, The Miller-York VFD Car & Hot Rod Show, The Miller-York VFD Famous Pepper Fried Chicken Dinner, and the Child Wellness Fair. Anyone with questions can contact Jamey Ponte.
President Jeff Placke reminded the membership that all club officers should be current members of SPAAMFAA.
Ralph Stelter shared a document with the group during good & welfare listing some of the manpower & equipment in the Cincinnati Fire Department circa 1918-1922. Thanks Ralph!
This past November, the club voted to create a new “family membership” option. Now you, your spouse, and your children under age 18 can share a membership to The Miles Greenwood Society for just $15.
